Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has congratulated globally acclaimed Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, on her recent series of international honours, describing her as a beacon of excellence and a source of national pride.
In a message shared on his official X handle on Saturday, Obi lauded Adichie for her remarkable achievements, including receiving the prestigious Mermaid Award in Sweden, the Felix Jud Prize in Germany, and the Women’s Prize for Fiction – Winner of Winners award in the United Kingdom.
He praised the award-winning novelist for her continued contribution to global literature and her ability to inspire millions around the world through her words and intellect.
“Through your voice, words, and brilliance, you continue to inspire millions across the world especially the younger generation — to believe in their dreams, reminding us that excellence, integrity, and hard work remain the true measures of success,” Obi wrote.

The former Anambra State governor further described Adichie, whom he fondly referred to as Odeluwa, as a representation of grace, intellect, and truth, commending her for consistently bringing honour to Nigeria on the international stage.
“I wish you continued success and strength as you keep representing our nation with grace, intellect, and truth. Congratulations, Odeluwa — we are proud of you,” he added.
Adichie, one of Africa’s most celebrated literary figures, has long been recognised for her groundbreaking works such as Half of a Yellow Sun, Americanah, and Purple Hibiscus. Her latest recognitions further cement her status as one of the most influential writers of her generation.
