Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri on Tuesday led top government officials and dignitaries aboard the state’s newly acquired ATR-72/600 aircraft on its maiden flight from Abuja to the Bayelsa International Airport.
The aircraft landed to a jubilant reception and a ceremonial water cannon salute. Governor Diri described the feat as “historic,” noting that it marks a new era of air connectivity and economic expansion for the state.
He announced that the state-owned carrier will operate as Air Bayelsa, with commercial flights to Abuja, Lagos and other Niger Delta states.
