The Central Bank of Nigeria has dismissed claims regarding the launch of new N5,000 and N10,000 banknotes, labeling the reports as untrue.
The CBN debunked this claim in a statement shared on its X handle in the late hours of Wednesday.
The CBN has urged the public to disregard the misleading content.

CBN wrote, “This content is NOT from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“Kindly note that the official website of the CBN is http://cbn.gov.ng.”
The misleading information circulating on several platforms suggested that new currency denominations would be introduced to minimize cash-handling expenses and improve liquidity management.
