Troops of Sector 6 under Operation OPEP have neutralised six suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted woman during a raid on a criminal hideout in Angwan Boka, Sopp District of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, which took place on Tuesday night, followed actionable intelligence obtained from two suspects arrested on February 16. The suspects were confirmed to be members of a kidnapping syndicate operating within the area.
According to a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Wednesday, the arrested suspects disclosed the location of their accomplices’ hideout and revealed that a woman abducted earlier at about 6:00 a.m. the same day was being held at the location.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops mobilised to the identified hideout with the two suspects in custody.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops made contact with the kidnappers, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Three of the suspects were initially neutralised during the shootout, while others attempted to flee.

Security sources said the troops pursued the fleeing criminals, resulting in the neutralisation of additional suspects and the eventual rescue of the kidnapped woman.
The rescued victim was reportedly found unharmed and has since been handed over to appropriate authorities for medical evaluation and reunification with her family.
Efforts are ongoing to track down any remaining members of the syndicate, as security forces intensify operations to rid the area of criminal elements.
