Troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Sector 2, have recorded major operational successes in the ongoing offensive against terrorists and bandits in Zamfara State, neutralising six terrorists and rescuing a kidnapped underage victim.

The military operation, carried out in the Sububu Forests of Maradun Local Government Area, was aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves, degrading their operational capacity, and restoring peace to affected communities in the state.

This was contained in a statement by the Media Information Officer,
Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Capt, David Adewusi, and shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Sunday.

According to the statement, the offensive began with a targeted engagement at Indulumu village, where troops engaged armed terrorists in a fierce firefight, resulting in the neutralisation of two terrorists.

One AK-47 rifle was recovered at the scene.

The Strike Force subsequently advanced to Ruduno village, where troops encountered further resistance.

In the ensuing engagement, four additional terrorists were neutralised.

Troops recovered another AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, while two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility and logistics were destroyed on site.

In a significant humanitarian outcome, troops advancing deeper into the forest successfully rescued a kidnapped underage victim, Halira Ibrahim, bringing an end to her captivity.

The rescue highlighted the military’s continued commitment to protecting civilians and combating the menace of kidnapping in the region.

The operation also led to the destruction of multiple terrorist camps and life-support structures in Magaji, Galakaje, Filinga, and Kukatara areas.

These actions are expected to further disrupt terrorist activities by denying them safe havens and logistical support.

The military has reaffirmed its resolve to sustain offensive operations against terrorists and criminal elements until lasting peace is restored across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
