Phyna Accuses Dangote Group of Abandoning Promise to Fly Injured Sister Abroad

Big Brother Naija Season 7 champion, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, fondly called Phyna, has publicly accused the Dangote Group of abandoning an earlier pledge to sponsor her sister, Ruth, abroad for urgent medical treatment.

Recall that Ruth, her younger sister, was struck by a Dangote truck near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, on the 13th of August, 2025.

The vehicle was allegedly operated by an underage driver without a valid license.

The incident, which occurred just six days after Ruth’s graduation, left her with a severed left leg and a threatened right leg.

Sharing fresh updates on Wednesday, Phyna said her recent visit to see Ruth in person made her realize the severity of her sister’s condition, which she admitted was worse than she had previously disclosed.

She revealed that she has maintained communication with officials of the Dangote Group, who initially approved her appeal to have Ruth transferred to India for specialized treatment.

Instead, Ruth was later moved to Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, where Phyna was told to submit a comprehensive medical report.

After doing so, she said the company’s representatives suddenly shifted stance, claiming they would need to seek “further medical advice” before deciding on the next step.

Phyna added that the company then asked for yet another document from Lagoon Hospital, this time to prove that Ruth’s condition could not be handled locally.

According to her, the situation worsened when the Dangote official she had been liaising with stopped responding to her messages for more than 24 hours, leaving her doubtful about the company’s commitment.

The reality star has now made a direct appeal to Aliko Dangote himself, urging him to intervene and fulfill the company’s pledge.

“My sister’s life must not be put at risk. She needs urgent care and it’s beyond what local hospitals can handle. Dangote must keep to their words,” Phyna stressed in her post.
