Plateau Gov Applauds Ex-CDS Musa’s Rise as Tinubu’s New Defence Minister

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has congratulated the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, on his nomination as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition following the resignation of former minister Mohammed Badaru.

Mutfwang praised Musa as a gallant and exceptionally competent military officer who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to national unity and security. He said the general’s experience and dedication would bring renewed vigour and strategic clarity to the fight against terrorism, banditry and other security challenges facing the country.

“His doggedness and steadfast commitment during his distinguished tenure as Chief of Defence Staff inspire confidence that he will deliver effective strategies in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture,” the governor stated.

He highlighted Musa’s extensive military career, including his roles as Deputy Chief of Staff, Training and Operations; Commander, Sector 3 of Operation Lafiya Dole; Commander, Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force in the Lake Chad region; Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai in 2021; and Commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, before his appointment as Chief of Defence Staff in 2023.
