The Delta State Police Command has arraigned 30 suspects arrested during an intelligence-led enforcement operation carried out across identified criminal hotspots in Asaba, the state capital.
The suspects were among 202 persons apprehended during the operation conducted on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
The raid, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, was based on credible intelligence generated by the State Intelligence Department (SID).
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operation targeted criminal black spots, brothels, and suspected illicit drug dens across Asaba and adjoining communities as part of efforts to curb crime in the state.
The police said that after preliminary investigations, 172 of the suspects were screened and released unconditionally after no evidence linking them to criminal activities was established.
However, 30 suspects were charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.
Among those arraigned is Prince Chizoba Ojokwu, 63, the proprietor of Prince Tarvan 50 Brothel, who appeared before the Asaba Magisterial District Court on allegations of permitting his premises to be used as a brothel and procuring women and girls for prostitution.
