Ogun State Police have arrested Muniru Haruna, 25, for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl in Oriile-Ilugun, Odeda Local Government Area.
The arrest followed a distress call from the girl’s mother, Alaba Abdullahi, who reported that she found her daughter in distress, emerging from Haruna’s room on March 1, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement released Sunday. Odutola stated that officers from the Odeda station responded to the call and arrested Haruna after observing that the child was experiencing difficulty walking.
“The victim exhibited signs of physical trauma, prompting her mother to seek immediate medical attention at General Hospital, Odeda,” Odutola said.
According to the police report, “Alaba Abdullahi reported that Muniru Haruna, a 25-year-old man residing in the same area, allegedly committed the act while the victim was playing nearby. The incident was discovered when Alaba heard her child crying and quickly went to investigate, only to find her daughter emerging from the suspect’s room in evident distress.”

The victim was taken to General Hospital, Odeda, for medical examination and treatment. Medical forms have been issued, and police are awaiting the results.
Haruna has denied the allegations. The case has been referred to the Division Crime Branch for investigation and will be transferred to the State CID Eleweran upon completion of the preliminary inquiry.
“We take these allegations very seriously and are committed to ensuring justice for the victim. The safety and well-being of our community, especially children, remain a top priority for the Ogun State Police Command,” Odutola stated.
