Police Arrest Officer For Allegedly Supplying Rifle To Armed Robber Suspects In Nasarawa

A serving police sergeant has been arrested for allegedly supplying an AK-47 rifle used in an armed robbery attack in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

According to intelligence sources quoted by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, on Monday, the arrest followed the apprehension of a robbery suspect, identified as Justine Gbata, 30, from Doka Village, who was captured after an attack on one Muhammad Danka of Ankoma Village.

It was gathered that the suspect attacked Danka and dispossessed him of his red Bajaj motorcycle.

The assailant fired several shots from an AK-47 rifle during the operation before fleeing into a nearby forest with the motorcycle.

Following the report, a joint team of police operatives, vigilantes, and local hunters launched a pursuit into the forest, leading to the arrest of one suspect.

Seven empty AK-47 shell casings were recovered at the scene.
