The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a number of operational breakthroughs in 11 states, with recent operations resulting in the killing of a suspected terrorist, the rescue of kidnapped victims and the arrest of individuals suspected of kidnapping, armed robbery and providing intelligence to bandits.
The operations, conducted between September 12 and 15, 2026, also resulted in the recovery of firearms, ammunition, suspected illicit drugs, vehicles, motorcycles, ransom funds and other items linked to criminal activities.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying police operatives, alongside personnel from other security agencies, had sustained coordinated efforts to tackle criminal activities nationwide.
In Kebbi State, a joint police-military clearance operation in Gumki Village, Arewa Local Government Area, led to the neutralisation of a suspected terrorist.
He said, “Police operatives, in collaboration with military personnel, successfully conducted a clearance operation in Gumki Village, Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, during which one terrorist was neutralised.”
The operation also yielded one PKT rifle loaded with 174 rounds of live ammunition, an AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds of ammunition, four motorcycles, mobile phones and other exhibits.
In Katsina State, two women abducted from Sha’Iskawa Fulani Village in Kankia LGA were rescued unharmed after police operatives engaged their suspected abductors in a gun battle.
According to the police, “The operatives successfully overpowered the assailants, forcing them to abandon the two victims and flee into the bush with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.”
The victims were subsequently recovered without injuries.
Meanwhile, three suspected members of an armed robbery gang were arrested in Ogun State over alleged attacks in Agbado and neighbouring areas. Three expanded cartridges were reportedly recovered from the suspects, while the State Criminal Investigation Department, Abeokuta, took over the investigation.
In Akwa Ibom, six suspected armed robbery gang members were apprehended following investigations into their alleged operations across Ikono, Ini and Obot Akara LGAs.
The police recovered two single-barrel guns, a motorcycle, three laptops and other exhibits from the suspects.
A suspected bandit informant was also arrested by technical operatives in Wamakko LGA of Sokoto State. Police said ₦900,000, allegedly collected as part of a levy imposed on a community, was recovered from the suspect.

The police said, “The suspect is providing useful information to aid the arrest of other gang members.”
In Delta State, seven suspects were arrested during a raid on a criminal hideout in Ukwuani LGA. Recovered items included a locally fabricated single-barrel firearm, a live cartridge, illicit drugs, a battle axe, mobile phones and a laptop.
Similarly, police operatives in Ekiti State arrested a suspected kidnapper and fraudster during a night operation along the Ekiti State University/Osekita Road.
According to the police, “A Toyota Venza valued at ₦10.5m, 255 SIM cards, four phones, an international passport, tramadol and other exhibits were successfully recovered.”
In Rivers State, police arrested a suspect at his hideout in Bonny following a manhunt. An English-made Beretta pistol previously abandoned by the suspect was also recovered.
The Force also disclosed that operatives rescued a kidnapped victim around Arabu Forest in Makarfi LGA of Kaduna State.
According to the police, “The rescued victim was medically evaluated and successfully reunited with his family.”
In Kogi State, joint security personnel arrested a suspected kidnapper following an armed attack on a vehicle along the Okene/Ogori-Magongo-Lagos Highway. The suspect was apprehended during a follow-up operation in the surrounding forest area, with police also recovering exhibits linked to the incident.
In Jigawa State, operatives arrested a suspect over the alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl in Ringim LGA. The case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation.
The Force further reported the arrest of 10 suspects during separate raids on criminal hideouts in Aniocha North and Oshimili North LGAs of Delta State between September 12 and 13.
The police recovered two locally made firearms, illicit drugs, cannabis-related items and other illegal exhibits during the operations.
The Force said investigations into the various cases were ongoing at the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, while operatives were continuing efforts to arrest other suspects connected to the crimes.
