The Ondo State Police Command has dismantled a suspected robbery syndicate operating in the Igushi–Imafon area, arresting two suspects and recovering a firearm, ammunition, and suspected stolen items.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the operation was carried out on March 22, 2026, following credible intelligence.
Police operatives conducted a targeted raid in Imafon, leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Busayo Ajowele (31) and Ajayi Ebenezer (33).
A search of the premises reportedly led to the recovery of a locally made single-barrel rifle and two live cartridges.
Officers also discovered 29 pieces of floor tiles believed to be linked to ongoing investigations.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects allegedly fired gunshots into the air to intimidate residents before carrying out their operations.
Police say the suspects have provided useful information that is aiding further investigations, including efforts to uncover possible links to wider criminal networks within the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for what he described as a swift, intelligence-driven success.
He said the operation reflects the Command’s commitment to proactive and community-focused policing.

Authorities assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspected accomplices connected to the syndicate.
