Police Debunk Viral Video Linked To Oyo School Abduction

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media and falsely linked to the recent abduction of school children and teachers in Oyo State.

According to the police, the footage being shared online is an old video recorded outside Nigeria and has no connection with the incident in Oyo State.

The Force warned that the misleading content was being used to spread false information and create unnecessary fear among members of the public.

In a statement a statement on their official Facebook page on Friday, the police urged Nigerians to disregard the video and avoid sharing unverified reports capable of escalating panic and confusion.

The Force also assured the public that security agencies had intensified efforts to rescue the abducted victims, adding that additional operational and intelligence resources had been deployed to support ongoing rescue operations.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains fully committed to securing the safe return of the victims,” the statement noted.

The police further appealed to residents and social media users to rely only on verified information from official sources while investigations and rescue operations continue.

Authorities stressed the importance of responsible information sharing, warning that the circulation of fake or misleading content could undermine security efforts and heighten public anxiety.
