Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez has become the focus of a major transfer story after FC Barcelona made a formal €100 million bid for the striker.
The Catalan club’s offer is understood to be a straightforward cash proposal, with no add-ons included and no player exchanges involved. It also represents Barcelona’s first official attempt to secure the Argentine’s signature.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Friday, the approach has been met with a negative response from Atlético Madrid over the past 24 hours, with the Spanish capital club reportedly displeased with both the timing and the structure of the bid.
Nevertheless, discussions remain active, as no agreement has been reached between both sides.

Romano also shared the details of the development, stating:
“Barcelona send first official proposal to Atlético Madrid for Julián Álvarez worth €100m. No add-ons, no players involved.
Atlético, not happy about the situation over last 24h — but Julián has already asked to leave.”
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Álvarez has already communicated his desire to leave Atlético Madrid, a factor that could significantly shape the direction of negotiations in the coming days.
Atlético Madrid are expected to assess the offer internally before deciding on their next move, as the club is reluctant to part ways with one of their key attacking players without first identifying a suitable replacement.
