Police Nab Four Suspected Bandits, Recover Weapons In Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of four suspected bandits in Kaduna State, alongside the recovery of firearms and ammunition believed to have been used in criminal operations.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, noting that the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence.

Those arrested were identified as Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40).

The arrests were carried out on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to the police, a cache of weapons was recovered during the operation, including four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and a locally fabricated pistol loaded with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Placid stated that preliminary investigations have linked the suspects to banditry and other violent crimes within the region, indicating the possibility of a broader criminal network.

He added that security operatives are intensifying efforts to track down other fleeing members of the group and recover additional weapons.

Reacting to the development, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and swift response.

The police chief reiterated the commitment of the Force to tackling banditry and safeguarding lives and property across the country, assuring that operations against criminal elements would be sustained.
