The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Anas Dauda, for unlawful possession of a firearm after a viral video showed him displaying an AK-47 rifle and boasting about selling or leasing it.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Yola, noting that the incident occurred in the Jalingo B area of Lamorde Ward, Mubi South Local Government Area.

According to Nguroje, the video, which sparked panic among residents, was quickly brought to the attention of the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, who ordered operatives from the Mubi South Division to track down the suspect.

“The operatives successfully traced and arrested the suspect at a remote location in Mubi town,” Nguroje stated, adding that efforts were underway to recover the rifle and identify its source.
