The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the rescue of a kidnapped victim, the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers, and the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition during separate intelligence-led operations in Kaduna and Delta States.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Sunday, the operations were carried out by tactical units of the Police, who acted on credible intelligence to dismantle kidnapping and arms trafficking syndicates.
In Kaduna State, operatives rescued one Hussaini Ibrahim, abducted from Jagindi Tasha village, Jema’a Local Government Area.
The kidnappers reportedly abandoned the victim in a forest after intense police pressure.
Four suspects linked to the abduction—identified as Umar Yusuf Jabiri, Buhari Muhammad (alias General), Ahmadu Nasiru, and Zakari Saleh—were arrested. Police also recovered one AK-47 rifle and two locally fabricated rifles.
In a separate operation, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted a suspicious waybill from Jos, Plateau State, en route to Gusau, Zamfara State.
A concealed AK-47 rifle was discovered inside a sack, leading to the arrest of two suspects, Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa, who had arrived in Gusau to receive the firearm.

Meanwhile, in Delta State, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), working with the X-Squad and Buffalo Patrol, stormed a hideout along Ibusa Road, where they arrested a notorious suspected kidnapper, 42-year-old Chiadiji Collins, popularly known as Smooth, who is linked to multiple abductions across Asaba, Ibusa, and Ogwashi-Uku.
A search of his residence in Ewulu community, Aniocha South LGA, uncovered an AK-47 rifle and 40 rounds of live ammunition.
Further investigations led to the arrest of another suspect, Ezechie Andrew, who was found in possession of two pump-action guns and live cartridges.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the bravery and professionalism of the operatives, describing the breakthroughs as proof of the Force’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely information to aid security operations.
“All the suspects are assisting police investigations and will be charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries,” Adejobi stated.
