Police Rescue Kidnapped Community Leader, Arrest Three ln Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped community leader, Hon. Hassan Reuben, and arrested three suspected accomplices in connection with the crime.

The abduction occurred on 20 January 2026 in Nahuta Village, Tula, Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State. The police received information about the incident at around 11:00 am on 21 January, prompting immediate security action.

Public Relations Officer DSP Buhari Abdullahi said the victim was successfully rescued unhurt on the same date. The operation was carried out through a joint effort of police operatives from the Awak and Tula Divisions, with support from local vigilantes and hunters.

Hon. Reuben was rescued at Tule Berbere, a few kilometres from Kunge Village in Awak District, and was immediately taken to hospital for medical evaluation. He has since returned safely to his family.

In a related development, the police arrested three women suspected to be spouses or accomplices of the kidnappers. The suspects were identified as Aisha Salihu, Fati Ado, and Adama Buba, all from Luga Edi Kamo, Awak, Kaltungo Local Government Area. The command noted that the suspects claimed ignorance of their ages.

Investigations into the case are ongoing. The Gombe State Police Command assured the public that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses and reiterated its commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crimes across the state.
