Police Summon Okorocha For Further Questioning After Bail

The Nigeria Police Force has directed former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha to return to its headquarters in Abuja for further questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

Okorocha was released on bail after about an hour of interrogation following his arrest at a hotel in Abuja on Monday night, according to a report by Channels Television.

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, October 13, saying the former governor was expected to return to the Force Headquarters for further questioning.

Police sources said Okorocha was initially invited for questioning on September 2, but the appointment was rescheduled to September 8 at the request of his lawyers.

He allegedly failed to honour the rescheduled invitation, prompting the police to take further action.

The police have yet to disclose details of the alleged offences or provide further information on the ongoing investigation.

Okorocha’s release on bail does not amount to a determination of the allegations against him.
