Pope Leo XIV has welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a meaningful sign of hope amid ongoing global tensions.
Speaking at the end of his weekly audience at the Vatican on Wednesday, the head of the Catholic Church said the announcement of an immediate two-week truce offers an opportunity for renewed dialogue between both nations.
“I welcome with satisfaction, and as a sign of real hope, the announcement of an immediate two-week truce. Only by returning to negotiations can we reach the end of the war,” the Pope said.
