Presidency Praises Kwankwaso for Slamming Trump’s Military Threat

The Presidency has hailed former Kano governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for the way he responded to United States President Donald Trump’s remarks about Nigeria and a possible military strike.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, in a message shared on X on Sunday, the 2nd of November, 2025, praised Kwankwaso’s stance and said it showed loyalty to the nation. He encouraged other leaders to do the same.

“Thank you Senator Kwankwaso for your patriotism. This is a time for all political leaders, across the divide, to unite behind our country and speak out, as patriots,” Onanuga wrote on X.

reports that Kwankwaso, in his reaction, dismissed claims of a massacre targeted at Christians, stressing that insecurity in Nigeria “does not distinguish based on religious, ethnic, or political beliefs”.

He added that Washington should focus on support, not threats. He urged Trump’s team to “assist the Nigerian authorities with better cutting-edge technology to tackle these problems, rather than posing a threat that could further polarise our country”.

Nigeria has insisted that no religious group is being targeted.
