President Bola Tinubu has approved new leadership for three key government agencies, appointing boards to advance education and agricultural financing reforms.
The approvals, contained in a statement signed by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, December 5, 2025, cover the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Bank of Agriculture (BOA), and National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF).
Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, initially appointed in July, will continue as Chairman of UBEC.
The board also includes Uchendu Ikechi Mbaegbulem representing the South-East and Gift Ngo representing the South-South, alongside other members from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
At BOA, Muhammad Babangida has been appointed Chairman, while Mallam Bello Maccido leads NADF.

The boards are charged with strengthening governance, enhancing operational efficiency, and implementing policies to expand access to quality basic education and affordable agricultural financing.
The appointments reflect the administration’s commitment to institutional reform, strategic oversight, and nationwide development in education and agriculture.
The boards are expected to commence work immediately.
