Ramadan: Kebbi Slashes Work Hours For Civil Servants

The Kebbi State Government has approved a temporary reduction in official working hours for civil servants to ease the demands of the Ramadan fasting period and allow workers more time for worship and family obligations.

The adjustment was announced on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Birnin Kebbi following the approval of Governor Nasir Idris, according to a circular issued by the state Ministry for Establishment, Pension and Training.

Under the revised schedule, civil servants will now work from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, while Fridays will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. throughout the Ramadan period.

The government said the measure is aimed at supporting Muslim workers observing the fast, while maintaining effective public service delivery across ministries, departments and agencies.

Authorities confirmed that normal working hours will automatically resume at the end of the Ramadan fasting period.

The directive follows a longstanding tradition in several northern states where official schedules are adjusted annually to reflect the physical demands of fasting, particularly during periods of intense heat.
