Political commentator and activist Victor Akah, popularly known as Randy Peters, has called on Nigerians to unite in defence of electoral integrity, insisting that mandatory real-time electronic transmission of results must be guaranteed ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, Peters framed the debate as a defining moment for the country’s democracy.
According to him, Nigerians must collectively decide whether to “unite and end this reign of terror” or “surrender to a handful of criminals in power.”
At the heart of his remarks was a strong demand for compulsory real-time electronic transmission of election results, which he described as essential to restoring public confidence in the electoral process.
“2027 ,our votes must count,” he declared, stressing that technological safeguards are critical to preventing manipulation and ensuring transparency.

Electronic transmission of results has remained a contentious issue in Nigeria’s electoral reforms discourse, with advocates arguing that it enhances credibility and reduces human interference, while critics cite logistical and legal concerns.
Peters urged citizens not to remain passive observers, emphasizing that democracy thrives only when the electorate actively safeguards it.
His comments come amid ongoing national conversations about potential amendments to the Electoral Act and the role of technology in future elections.
As political actors begin early positioning for 2027, debates over transparency, accountability and electoral credibility are expected to intensify.
