The renowned preacher, Apostle Arome Osayi, has opened up about a deeply personal tragedy, the abduction and eventual killing of his brother by terrorists, an ordeal he says severely challenged his faith but ultimately failed to shatter his spiritual fortitude.
During a recent church sermon, Apostle Osayi recounted the events, explaining that his brother was seized by terrorists who subsequently demanded a ransom amounting to millions of naira.
Despite the family acquiescing to the captors’ demands and paying the hefty fee, their hope was tragically dashed. They were later summoned to the forest to retrieve his brother’s body after he succumbed to the conditions of captivity.
Reflecting on the devastating emotional impact, Apostle Osayi openly admitted the anguish caused by the experience. “My brother was kidnapped, and after paying a huge ransom, we were called to collect his body in the forest. Nothing can prepare you for such heartbreak,” he said.
Osayi revealed that his profound understanding of Scripture was the anchor that allowed him to maintain emotional composure throughout the trial. He explained that his ability to remain balanced was not a lack of feeling but a testament to his spiritual grounding.

“I did not shed a tear, not because I was not attached to him, but because I understand the Word. It teaches you to avoid excessive grief or overwhelming despair. You learn to remain steady in the midst of trials,” he explained.
The popular preacher stressed that his spiritual resilience during this period was a deliberate choice.
He concluded that he actively worked to protect his emotional state from the enemy’s influence. “I refused to let this tragedy give the enemy an advantage. Your life follows your most dominant thoughts, and I chose to keep my focus on faith and perseverance.”
