Real Madrid has dismissed reports suggesting it is considering structural changes involving the introduction of a sporting director, describing the claims as entirely false.
The clarification, shared in a post on X by Fabrizio Romano on Friday, included a firm statement from the club backing its current sporting setup and rejecting the speculation.
“Real Madrid extraordinarily values the work that the club’s sports management has been carrying out, which has allowed us to live through one of the most successful periods in our entire history with the achievement of numerous titles, including 6 European Cups in ten years.”

In the statement, the club also reiterated its confidence in its existing leadership structure, praising those responsible for football operations and linking their work to one of the most successful eras in its history.
The denial follows ongoing reports in Spanish media suggesting possible internal reforms, particularly as many elite European clubs continue to shift toward centralized sporting director models aimed at improving recruitment and long-term squad planning.
Despite such trends, Real Madrid maintains its traditional structure, in which key sporting and transfer decisions are handled by senior executives and trusted football leadership rather than a formal sporting director system common elsewhere in Europe.
