Reno Omokri, former presidential aide and social media personality, is facing fresh criticism from his ex-wife, Tuokpe Onuwaje, who accused him of abandoning their son with special needs while projecting images of himself as a devoted father online.
The criticism came on Monday, September 1, 2025, at around 7 a.m., when Onuwaje took to her Facebook page to react to a photo Omokri had shared of himself at the gym with his daughter, whom he described as his “lookalike Alakowe daughter.”
Onuwaje alleged that Omokri has not seen or spent time with their son since June 2024, despite publicly celebrating moments with his other children.
“Real parenting happens in the everyday moments, not just in staged photos. Put down the camera,” she wrote.
She went on to say that their son requires daily commitment and care, not occasional public displays.
Omokri and Onuwaje, who married in the United States before their separation, have had a turbulent relationship marked by public disputes.

In 2018, California’s Children and Family Services cleared Omokri after investigating Onuwaje’s domestic abuse allegations.
She restated those claims in 2024, saying she suffered repeated assaults during their marriage, including one that left her with a ruptured eardrum. Omokri has consistently denied the allegations.
The latest exchange has reignited debate about parental responsibility among public figures, particularly when raising children with special needs, and the extent to which curated social media posts reflect genuine family involvement.
Omokri, who served as spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has not issued a public response to his ex-wife’s latest claims.
