Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has publicly raised alarm over the arrest of her close friend, alleging abuse of power and a pattern of intimidation linked to her former husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
In an emotional Instagram Story shared on Tuesday, Daniels expressed distress over what she described as the unlawful arrest of her “dearest best friend,” identified only as Ann. The actress questioned the legality of the arrest and voiced concerns over her friend’s safety while in custody.
Daniels suggested that the arrest followed her decision to challenge previous allegations made against her by the senator, accusing him of weaponising law enforcement to escalate personal disputes. She alleged that a prior case involving domestic violence had been overshadowed by shifting accusations, including claims of drug addiction and, most recently, theft.
“How did a case of domestic violence get overshadowed by drug addiction and now theft?” she wrote, adding that her friend had earlier been labelled a drug supplier by her ex-husband—an allegation she strongly denied.

The actress also expressed unease about the credibility of the Nigeria Police Force in the handling of the matter, stating that the actions taken were “not being done legally.” She questioned the motivation behind the latest allegations, describing them as retaliatory following her efforts to clear her name.
Daniels’ post has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with supporters calling for due process, transparency, and restraint in the use of state institutions in private disputes.
As of the time of filing this report, Senator Ned Nwoko and the Nigeria Police Force had not issued an official response to the allegations. The situation continues to draw public attention, adding another layer to the highly publicised dispute between the actress and the lawmaker.
