Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s national security adviser, held a high-level meeting with United States defence officials after former US President Donald Trump threatened to send American troops into Nigeria.
Trump had declared he would deploy forces with “guns-a-blazing” to “wipe out the Islamic Terrorists” he claimed were killing Christians.
Acting on directives from President Bola Tinubu, Ribadu led a delegation to the United States to address the matter.
The team included Bianca Ojukwu, minister of state for foreign affairs; Kayode Egbetokun, inspector general of police; Lateef Fagbemi, attorney general of the federation; and Olufemi Oluyede, chief of defence staff.
Ribadu met with US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth on Thursday, November 20. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, joined the meeting, according to ABC News.
