Riley Moore Demands End To Christian Genocide In Nigeria

US Congressman, Rep. Riley Moore, has condemned the continued killings and abductions of Christians in Nigeria, insisting that the violence must be brought to an end.

Moore made the remark in a statement shared on his verified X account on Monday, the 9th of February, 2026, stressing that the duty to halt the attacks rests with the Nigerian government and the country’s citizens.

The American lawmaker was responding to the recent kidnapping of a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, of Holy Trinity Parish in Kaduna State.

According to reports, suspected bandits last week launched a deadly assault in parts of Kaduna, killing three persons and abducting a Catholic priest alongside 10 other individuals.

Reacting to the incident, Moore called for prayers for the victims and decried what he described as an escalating pattern of violence against Christians in the country.

He said, “Please join me in praying for the safe return of Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye of Holy Trinity Parish in Kaduna who was kidnapped alongside 10 others.

“Three of his parishioners were brutally murdered by radical Islamic jihadists during the attack. The last week has been some of the most horrifically bloody days in recent history for Christians across Nigeria.

“The genocide of Christians must end, and it falls squarely on the Nigerian government’s shoulders to defend its citizens all of its citizens and end this violent persecution. Please keep praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ.”

Moore’s comments add to growing international concern over insecurity in Nigeria, particularly the repeated attacks targeting religious communities in parts of the country.
