Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has disbanded the State Executive Council with immediate effect.
The decision, announced on Thursday, the 12th of February, 2026, affects all serving commissioners and special advisers in the state.
Following the directive, the affected officials have been instructed to transfer responsibilities to the permanent secretaries or, where necessary, the most senior civil servants in their respective ministries.

Governor Fubara appreciated members of the dissolved council for their contributions to the administration and extended his best wishes to them in their future pursuits.
The announcement was made public through a statement released on Thursday, the 12th of February by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi.
