Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, widely known as RMD, has shared how he handed over the first ₦100 million cheque he ever received to his wife, Jumobi, saying he wanted her to enjoy it as a personal gift.
The 65-year-old actor made the revelation during an interview on The Morayo Show with Morayo, which gained widespread attention on Wednesday.
Speaking about his marriage, RMD described himself as an “incurable romantic,” explaining that he enjoys giving his wife meaningful gifts because acts of giving are central to how she expresses and receives love.
He said one of the things that gives him the greatest satisfaction is hearing his wife say that the valuable possessions she owns were purchased by him.
“I’m an incurable romantic. These days, it isn’t about flowers and chocolates anymore because ladies like money,” he said.
Reflecting on the day he received the milestone payment, RMD recalled immediately directing his manager to deliver the cheque to his wife instead of keeping it himself.

“The first biggest cheque I ever received was for ₦100 million. When it was presented to me, I told my manager to give it to my wife.
When she got it, she asked if I wanted her to keep it for the children. I told her no, that she should keep it for herself and do whatever she wanted with it,” he said.
The actor noted that he was aware much of the money would ultimately benefit their children but said that did not change his intention of making the gift to his wife.
“The trick is that I know 90 per cent of the money will eventually end up being spent on the children. I like giving my wife the biggest things I have so she never has to ask for anything. All the big and beautiful things in the house are hers,” he said.
RMD and Jumobi, a former television presenter, got married in 2000, four years after the passing of his first wife, May Ellen Ezekiel. The couple marked their 25th wedding anniversary in December 2025.
The Delta State-born actor is a father of four children, with two from his first marriage and two from his marriage to Jumobi.
