Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has responded to US President Donald Trump’s acknowledgment that Muslims are also victims of violence in Nigeria.
In a post on his verified X handle on Friday, the 9th of January, 2026, suggested that earlier narratives of genocide were crafted to “use the US to achieve a hidden agenda.”
He emphasized that people of all faiths must recognize the dangers they face and unite in the effort to eliminate terrorism from Nigeria.

“The recent admission by President Trump that ‘Muslims are also killed’ by terrorists in Northern Nigeria properly and objectively locates the violence in its context,” Sani wrote.
He further noted, “Being a Muslim doesn’t insulate you from the evil of terrorism. We must also free ourselves from the illusion that a foreign power will solve the problems we are supposed to solve ourselves.”
