Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has felicitated with the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, on his 53rd birthday, praising his dedication and leadership.

In a post on his official X handle on Tuesday, the governor described Obasa’s service to the people of Agege Constituency I and his stewardship of the Lagos Assembly as exemplary.

“Rt. Hon. Obasa has shown true dedication to public service over the years, serving the people of Agege Constituency I with passion and leading the House of Assembly with wisdom. His commitment to the progress of Lagos and the success of our administration has been remarkable,” Sanwo-Olu tweeted.

He also extended birthday wishes on behalf of his family and the people of Lagos State. “On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, and the good people of Lagos State, I wish him more fruitful years in good health and continued grace to serve our state and nation,” the governor added.

The birthday greetings come amid years of speculation over a perceived power tussle between Obasa and the state governor. Obasa, however, has dismissed such claims, describing his relationship with Sanwo-Olu as “akin to siblings” and affirming that he has no issues with the governor.

Under Obasa’s leadership, the Lagos Assembly has been noted for active legislative engagement, and the Speaker has consistently emphasised collaboration with the executive arm of government in his public statements.
