Sanwo-Olu Installs Alara As LASU Chancellor

The Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to Lagos State University, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has given his approval for the installation of Oba (Dr) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara, as the 6th Chancellor of the institution.

Details of the decision were made public in a statement released on Sunday, the 15th of February, 2026, by the university. The announcement was endorsed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Emmanuel A. Fanu.

The appointment comes after the completion of the tenure of Professor Gbolahan Elias, SAN, who previously held office as the 5th Chancellor of the university.

Both the Lagos State Government and members of the LASU community expressed appreciation to Elias for his commitment to duty and the distinction he accorded the office throughout his stewardship.
