Saudi Arabia to Build Sky Stadium 1,150 Feet Above Ground

Saudi Arabia has announced plans to build the world’s first “Sky Stadium,” a groundbreaking sports arena that will stand 1,150 feet (approximately 350 metres) above the ground, setting a new benchmark in futuristic architecture and entertainment.

The ultra-modern facility, officially named the NEOM Sky Stadium, will be located within the country’s ambitious NEOM smart city project.

Designed to host major sporting and entertainment events, the structure will reportedly seat around 46,000 spectators and operate entirely on renewable energy sources, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 sustainability goals.

According to Gulf News and Construction Review Online, the stadium will be suspended within a mirrored skyscraper complex, offering panoramic views of the surrounding desert landscape.

It is expected to feature advanced cooling technology, digital fan experiences, and fully integrated transport access via high-speed transit systems.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with completion projected for 2032, ahead of Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2034.

Officials say the Sky Stadium will not only redefine global sports architecture but also serve as a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in sports, tourism, and sustainable urban design.

The project forms part of the larger Vision 2030 initiative, which seeks to diversify the Kingdom’s economy by transforming it into a hub for innovation, entertainment, and technology-driven development.
