A security expert, Bulama Bukarti, has said that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is not above the law and emphasized that any investigation into the alleged phone-tapping must be transparent.
Bukarti made the remarks on Monday, the 2nd of March, 2026, during an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme aired on Channels Television.
He spoke in the context of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, raid on El-Rufai’s residence.
Recall that the ICPC had reported recovering suspected wiretapping equipment from El-Rufai’s Abuja residence, equipment allegedly capable of intercepting private conversations and accessing sensitive security documents.

Bukarti said, “Transparency requires that they see what was found in the house, if anything was found. But we don’t know the details.
“The ICPC and other agencies need to understand that El-Rufai is entitled to full due process of law and his investigation must be transparent. He is not above the law.”
