Senate President Godswill Akpabio explained why Taiwo Oyedele was not dismissed during his ministerial screening.
Speaking on Wednesday, the 11th of March, 2026, he said Nigerians listening to the session were becoming more informed.
He noted that Oyedele would have numerous working documents to review in his office, helping him understand which policies to develop and which areas to focus on.
According to Akpabio, these policies would help put Nigeria’s economy on a stronger footing.

“It’s also possible that we could have said, take a bow and go, but Nigerians out there who are listening to you are getting more educated,” he said.
The Senate confirmed Oyedele as minister-designate on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu requested his screening.
Tinubu nominated Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dr Doris Anite-Uzoka.
