Senator Natasha Denounces Viral Fake Investment Video

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has warned the public against a viral video circulating on social media that falsely portrays her promoting a fraudulent investment scheme.

In a statement released on Sunday, March 15, through her official social media platforms, the lawmaker described the video as manipulated content created by fraudsters attempting to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that the clip was doctored from a previous interview she granted to television journalist Seun Okinbaloye. According to her, the original footage was altered by criminals to promote a fake investment platform.

“Although the manipulated clip appears to feature my voice and image, it is entirely fabricated and should not be trusted,” she said.

The senator urged Nigerians to disregard the video and avoid engaging with any investment opportunity associated with the misleading content.

She also called on members of the public to report any social media pages or online platforms hosting the video so that it can be removed and prevent others from becoming victims.

Akpoti-Uduaghan stressed that the incident highlights the growing threat of digital scams and identity manipulation targeting public figures.

“Please stay vigilant, stay safe, and be guarded against online scams,” she added.

Cybersecurity experts have repeatedly warned about the rising use of edited videos, deepfake technology and artificial intelligence tools by fraudsters to impersonate prominent personalities and lend credibility to fraudulent schemes.

Authorities continue to advise the public to verify information from official sources and exercise caution before participating in online financial opportunities.
