Seyi Tinubu Denies Allegations Linking Him To King Mitchy

Seyi Tinubu has publicly addressed allegations linking him to popular content creator Mukoro Mitchelle, widely known as King Mitchy, following claims made by social media commentator VeryDarkMan.

In a detailed statement shared via Instagram on Saturday, Seyi Tinubu dismissed what he described as “false allegations and insinuations,” insisting that his only interaction with King Mitchy was a public meeting where he offered financial support toward her non-governmental organisation (NGO) activities.

“I met Mitchy once, in a public setting, alongside others. On that occasion, I provided financial support toward her NGO activities, just as I have supported many young Nigerians and organisations working to empower our people,” he stated.

The controversy erupted after VeryDarkMan (VDM) allegedly dragged Tinubu into an ongoing online dispute involving King Mitchy, claiming there was an inappropriate relationship and suggesting political motives behind their association.

Tinubu firmly denied any private encounters or secret arrangements.

“There has never been a private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind,” he said, adding that a follow-up meeting intended to assess the impact of her NGO’s work did not take place due to his ill health.

Tinubu also expressed concern that his name had been inserted into what he called a feud he neither initiated nor participated in, accusing critics of attempting to harm his reputation. “Supporting charitable causes is not a crime.

Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal. Repeating falsehoods loudly does not transform them into truth,” he wrote.

Beyond denying the allegations, Tinubu condemned online harassment and warned against the escalation of social media attacks, noting their potential mental health impact.

He emphasised that philanthropy and outreach should not be politicised or weaponised.

“For over a decade, through my foundation and personal giving, I have supported initiatives in education, enterprise, health, youth empowerment and many others.

That work is transparent, documented, and rooted in service,” he added.

The unfolding saga has generated intense debate across social media platforms, with supporters and critics weighing in.

As of the time of filing this report, King Mitchy has not publicly addressed the latest statement, while online discussions continue to trend.

The episode highlights the growing influence of digital commentary in shaping public narratives and underscores the reputational risks public figures face in the age of viral speculation.
