Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has denied allegations that he threatened social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, describing the claims as false and baseless.
In a statement posted on his verified Instagram page on Saturday, February 28, 2026, Seyi said his name had been drawn into a dispute he did not initiate and alleged that the narrative was being used unfairly to damage his reputation.
VeryDarkMan had accused Seyi Tinubu and influencer King Mitchy of issuing threats against him, allegations that have gained traction online but remain unverified.
Responding directly, Seyi clarified that he met King Mitchy only once in a public setting in the presence of others, where he provided financial support for her non-profit work.
He said the gesture was consistent with the assistance he has extended to other young Nigerians and community-focused organizations.

He added that a planned follow-up meeting to review the impact of the support did not hold because he was unwell, stressing that there was “no private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind.”
Seyi urged the public to rely on facts rather than speculation.
“Supporting charitable causes is not a crime. Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal. Repeating falsehoods loudly does not transform them into truth,” he wrote.
He also cautioned against online harassment, warning that disagreements should not escalate into threats or conduct capable of affecting individuals’ mental health.
Seyi maintained that his philanthropic engagements in education, enterprise, healthcare and youth empowerment have been transparent and properly documented.
He concluded by calling for responsible public discourse, stating that Nigeria needs constructive engagement rather than sensationalism.
