Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has condemned the killing of the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those behind the attack.

In a statement issued on Sunday, June 28, 2026, by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, Akume described the murder of the MACBAN chairman and his associate as a grave setback to efforts to restore lasting peace in Benue State.

The SGF directed the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other security agencies to launch a thorough investigation and ensure everyone connected with the killings is brought to justice.

Akume noted that the successful prosecution of suspects linked to the Yelwata killings demonstrated that perpetrators of violent crimes could be tracked down and held accountable, adding that the same determination must be applied in the latest case.

Akume also conveyed his condolences to the family of the late Ardo Risku Mohammed, the leadership of MACBAN and others affected by the incident.
