Shehu Sani Slams Supporters Of Trump Over Greenland Acquisition Move

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has criticised individuals backing United States President Donald Trump over his reported interest in acquiring Greenland.

Sani made his position known via a post on his verified X account on Wednesday, the 14th of January 2026, where he cautioned against endorsing actions that undermine national sovereignty:

“You can’t support the violation of one sovereignty and oppose the violation of another. Be careful in what you are supporting or encouraging because it will not stop there.”

His comment sparked reactions from other users on the platform:@benjamin2u: “Unrelated, but distinguished senator, one can tell that you’re aligned with the Ayatollah regime. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. Problem is when other people display their foreign alliance, some of you would start preaching patriotism and pan-Africanism.”

@Kryptotajeer: “These double standards and blatant American oppression of other nations signal a falling empire. The sooner every sovereign country sees through it, the better for the world.”

@Magvegas2: “Different scenario. Don’t compare apples with oranges. It will soon be Nigeria’s turn.”

@Dannymasterp: “I grew up with the mentality that the United States stands for the unity, peace and stability of other countries, which is the main reason the United Nations (@UN) Headquarters is established in New York. But under this President Trump regime, I’m beginning to see a different reality the United States is now the major oppressor of other countries just to maintain economic control. Trump has become a threat to nations’ sovereignty, and it’s very disturbing to see a respected country like the United States deliberately violating global order and other countries’ sovereignty. America continues to lose its relevance and respect among global communities.”

@jaydanlad: “You evil Muslims have your problems at home, but it’s Trump that you are crying about. Hypocrites. Evil people.”
