Trump Says Cuba “Ready to Fall” After US Capture of Venezuela’s Maduro

President Donald Trump has suggested that Cuba is facing imminent collapse in the aftermath of the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro by United States forces, insisting that Havana has lost its long-standing lifeline of security backing and energy supplies from Caracas.

While speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, late Sunday, the 4th of January, 2026, Trump reflected on Saturday’s U.S. operation that led to the detention of Maduro and his wife over alleged charges.

Trump’s remarks come as reactions continue to ripple across the region following Maduro’s capture, an event that has triggered street protests and heightened diplomatic strain in parts of Latin America.

In response, Cuban officials have condemned the U.S. move, accusing Washington of breaching Venezuela’s sovereignty and urging citizens to participate in demonstrations in solidarity with Caracas.

Meanwhile, American authorities have claimed that Cuba played a central role in keeping Maduro in power. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio alleged that Cuban security operatives exercised deep influence over Venezuela’s intelligence and security structures, including responsibility for Maduro’s personal protection.
