Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea-Conakry’s President-elect Doumbouya, scheduled for January 17.
Shettima disclosed the trip in a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, January 16, noting that he would also attend the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, after the Guinea event.
According to the vice president, “Vice President has departed Abuja to represent President Bola Tinubu at President Doumbouya inauguration in Guinea-Conakry, scheduled for January 17.”
He added that he is “also billed to attend the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, after his participation in the presidential inauguration in that West African country.”

Shettima said the visit to Guinea is intended to advance Nigeria’s regional and economic objectives under the Tinubu administration.
“The Vice President’s attendance at the inauguration of President-elect Doumbouya is a strategic move for regional leadership, economic partnership, and global economic integration under President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.”
He also linked the trip to Nigeria’s standing within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), describing it as part of the country’s leadership role in supporting Guinea’s political transition.
“It is also part of Nigeria’s leadership role within ECOWAS , which includes supporting Guinea’s return to constitutional order, following a four-year transition,” it stated.
