A dramatic moment unfolded at the Miss Universe 2025 preliminary competition on November 19 when Dr. Gabrielle Henry, representing Jamaica, fell off the stage during the evening gown segment and was rushed to hospital.
The 28-year-old ophthalmologist and beauty queen was walking the runway in a flowing orange gown when she slipped and tumbled forward.
Medical personnel immediately attended to her and carried her off the stage on a stretcher to Paolo Rangsit Hospital for evaluation.
According to the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization, Dr. Henry did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Raúl Rocha, president of the Miss Universe Organization, visited her in hospital and confirmed she had no broken bones and was under careful observation.
The team urged the public to “send positive thoughts and prayers” for her recovery.
Dr. Henry, founder of the See Me Foundation, is widely recognized for her work supporting visually impaired people in Jamaica.
Her participation in the pageant has drawn admiration both for her advocacy and poise, even amidst the accident.
