Daniel Regha Questions Gumi’s Immunity Amid Nnamdi Kanu, Igboho Cases

Social media influencer Daniel Regha has raised questions over perceived inconsistencies in Nigeria’s approach to high-profile security cases, highlighting the contrasting treatment of separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu, activist Sunday Igboho, and Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Regha noted that while Kanu is currently facing trial in court and Igboho has been declared wanted by authorities, Gumi has neither been arrested nor prosecuted despite publicly defending bandits on national media platforms.

“Nnamdi Kanu is in court; And Sunday Igboho was declared wanted. But Gumi is neither facing trials or being arrested for consistently defending bandits on a national news scale,” Regha wrote, drawing attention to what he described as a troubling disparity in enforcement of the law.

The post has sparked conversations online regarding accountability, consistency, and public perception of the justice system in Nigeria. Observers note that such discrepancies could undermine confidence in law enforcement and the judiciary, especially when high-profile figures are treated differently under the law.

Analysts suggest that social media commentary, like Regha’s, reflects growing public demand for transparency and fairness in addressing security challenges and the actions of individuals who wield significant influence in national discourse.

The contrasting cases underscore ongoing debates about governance, security, and the rule of law in Nigeria, particularly in the context of separatist movements, vigilante activism, and the influence of prominent public figures on sensitive national issues.
