Sidelining Me from Decisions Will Destroy PDP, Wike Warns

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has accused governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of sidelining him from key party decisions, warning that such internal exclusion could destroy the foundation of the opposition party.

Wike voiced his frustration during a media chat held in Abuja on Friday, October 24, where he criticised PDP governors for failing to consult him despite his major role in building and sustaining the party over the years.

He said, “Have I not said it before now that the booby trap you are setting will consume you? The way these present governors are doing, they will bury this party.”

The minister questioned why his non-governorship status had become an excuse for excluding him from important consultations, stressing that his current position and past service merited recognition.

“I am the FCT Minister. Are you telling me that because I am not a governor, you will hold a PDP stakeholders’ meeting and exclude me, and then expect the party to survive?” he asked.

He added, “Assuming I am not a minister, by the role I have played in the PDP till now, is it right to say I cannot be consulted in taking decisions of the party? Certainly not.”

The PDP has been battling internal rifts, multiple court cases, and defections by key figures, including Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom.
