Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo was sworn in for a second term as Governor of Anambra State on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in a ceremony at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
He took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, before a gathering of government officials, traditional rulers, and supporters.
The inauguration attracted prominent figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, and former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.
In his remarks, Soludo promised to expand on the achievements of his first term, emphasizing infrastructure development, improved security, and enhanced social services.
He also highlighted plans to create more opportunities for youth and strengthen governance in the state.

Soludo secured a decisive victory in the November 8, 2025 gubernatorial election, winning over 80 percent of the votes and carrying all 21 local government areas.
A professor and economist, Soludo previously served as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria before assuming his first term as Anambra Governor on March 17, 2022 under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
