Sophia Momodu, entrepreneur and mother of singer Davido’s daughter, has issued a public statement addressing what she described as “false narratives” circulating on social media about her child. In a detailed note shared via her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Momodu said she felt compelled to speak after waking up to posts she believed were intentionally targeted at her daughter.
Calling herself a “fiercely protective mother,” Momodu said her priority has always been her child’s wellbeing. She stressed that her daughter is “happy, healthy, and well-rounded,” and that anyone who has met her can attest to this.
Momodu revealed that she has been the primary caregiver for the past five years, handling all of her daughter’s expenses except school fees, which she said have been covered by the child’s paternal grandparent for three years. She added that she has not received child support from the father but insisted her daughter “knows no lack” and is growing in a stable and loving environment.
“In an effort to reaffirm my commitment to her happiness, I recently waived all outstanding child support payments and relinquished future claims,” she wrote, describing the development as one welcomed by both parties.

Momodu also emphasised the importance of her child maintaining a relationship with both parents, noting that she has never denied access but prioritises structure and safety. She expressed gratitude that her daughter enjoys a loving relationship with both sides of her family.
Appealing for sensitivity going forward, she asked the public to keep her child out of “false narratives and stories,” urging a collective shift toward more positive and meaningful engagement.
“Let’s channel our energy towards things that are more profitable and healthy,” she said, signing off with a simple “Thank you. TSM.”
